About Us

Quality coverage, where you want it, when you want it.

This is a website completely dedicated to high school sports around the Kansas City metro, even extending out a couple hours in every direction.

As a high school graduate in 2000, I became interested in sports journalism and I carried that passion through my college years at Baker University, where I covered many sports and took on a role as assistant sports editor.

When I graduated in 2004, I immediately began working at my hometown paper, the Baldwin city Signal. I gained a lot of valuable knowledge and experience during my seven years in my hometown. A lot of my formative years in this industry were spent working at that paper and for my former editor and publisher Jeff Myrick.

During the next two years, I held sports editor positions in Iowa and Indiana before a job opening in Stillwater, Oklahoma was offered to me. I took that job as a sports writer and held it for seven years. Those years in Oklahoma were truly some of the best I've had in my career as I was able to cover many incredible high school teams and some great Oklahoma State University programs.

In the summer of 2021, my family and I moved back to the Kansas City area to be closer to family. A year later, I began working at the Tribune and Times in Harrisonville, Missouri. I was able to accumulate some great experience and knowledge during my four years in Harrisonville, covering some great teams and working with some incredible coaches.

Before I started my job in Harrisonville, I began a blog site called kcpreps.blog where I cover cross country meets in the area for a year or two. I was unable to maintain the level of coverage I wanted to because of my job.

Now, in the summer of 2026, I am reviving my site and making it better than it ever was before. I truly have a passion for covering high school sports and I want to make this my full-time career. I have one dozens of awards for writing photography and newspaper design during my 20+ years in journalism. Many of the most enjoyable moments I've had have come from high school games or teams or players. There is something special about high school athletics and I hope to bring that enjoyment and passion to this website.
