Jacob Misiorowski, a 2020 Grain Valley graduate, had a big night Friday in Game 1 of the World Series.

The 24-year-old Milwaukee Brewers ace started the game, becoming the youngest pitcher in MLB history to start three postseason series.

Misiorowski threw five innings and earned the win as the Brewers beat Tampa Bay, 3-2, in their second-ever World Series. Misiorowski struck out three, walked one and allowed just one run and four hits in the victory.

Misiorowski also set a World Series record in the game. His first pitch was recorded at 103.5 mph, setting a record for the fastest pitch ever thrown by a starting pitcher in a World Series game.

Misiorowski grew up in Grain Valley and earned all-state honors as a junior. His senior season was canceled because of COVID-19. He was drafted 63rd overall in the 2022 MLB Draft by the Brewers.

He made his MLB debut on June 12, 2025. Misiorowski earned the win in his debut after throwing a no-hitter for five innings.
